Did you think differently of who I am after seeing my score, then my experiences?

@Ranza123‌ Yes sir, will do so! I signed up for writing for all tests! Thanks!

I’m not a sir, but you’re welcome anyway!

@Ranza123‌ OMG sorry I thought Ranza was a male name! Hahaha, is it okay if I ask for your SAT and ACT score??

Hahaha Ranza isn’t my name at all so it’s fine. My SAT was 2180 and my ACT was 34

@Ranza123 Woah! I’m very honored to be receiving tips someone with such high scores… how long did it take you to get these scores?!

Well the ACT I only took once with very minimal studying. The SAT I took twice. The first time I sort of did a lot of studying over the course of a short time. I got a 2080. That was march of my junior year. Then I retook it in October of my senior year. Instead of cramming a lot of studying at once, I downloaded the “sat question of the day” app. I just did one question a day over the course of a few months. I improved each subsection the second time around and scored the 2180.

@Ranza123‌ Okay, I’ve heard of the app, so I’ll download it for when I get bored and on the go. What is the lowest good ACT and SAT score for many colleges? Would you know by any chance? Hahaha, sorry for asking so many questions, I appreciate everything!

Don’t assume that, because a school is test-optional, that the academics there aren’t challenging…

Ask as many questions as you want! As far as minimum scores, it really depends where you’re looking. I’d say to be competitive at most colleges, you’d want somewhere around a 2000 SAT and 30 ACT.

@Catria‌ Haha of course! It’s just that I did research on colleges I want to go to and pick them. It’s not like they are the only choice for me.

@Ranza123‌ Oh yikes, I better really study! Are you interested in my scores after taking three of them? I’ll notify you when I finished taking all of them. Which will be the available in December. Just to show my appreciation of this long conversation hahaha

ill be honest here. youre gonna be a senior and summer is ending. if you want to study for the sat or act and take it in oct/sept, then go ahead, but if i were in your shoes i wouldnt waste my time or money. your gpa is low, but it isnt HORRIBLE. atleast you have a 3.0, which means u put in some effort. i really think to improve on the sat’s u need to take classes. i went from a 1500 to 2130, but that was only possible after paying roughly 2000 dollars for sat classes. my parents are financially stable so we have the luxury of that. i dont know your financial situation, but if you really want to improve your scores, classes might be necessary. here is what i suggest you do instead: go to community colleges. honestly with a 3.3, youll do fine in community college as long as you try, and then you can transfer out to a university. youll save more money. its your senior year: who wants to spend it studying on the sat’s? have fun. also, im also a senior and for a while i was reading up on accounitng. something you should consider is that your should go to a accounting school that is AACBB accredited. i see that a good way to get into forensic accounting is to get your CPA. sorry i dont know too much about forensic accounting, but i know quite a bit about accounting. for accounting: you want to get recruited by the Big 4, and they recruit at either really good colleges or AACSB accredited schools. Use this link to search up AACSB accredited schools: <a href=“Search Accredited Schools | AACSB”>Page Error; (MAKE SURE YOU SELECT BUSINESS AND ACCOUNTING, NOT JUST BUSINESS, ON THE FILTER BY ACCREDITATION BAR). You seem to live in Mass, and the only aacsb accredited schools on your list are Suffolk and Umass amherst. there is also Bently University, but you dont have that on your list so i dont think you want to go. Babsons college is a well known business school so im sure the Big 4 will recruit there as well. i dont know much about the other schools, so i cant give advice on that. sorry. anyway i hope you take this into consideration, and if you have any questions i would be glad to answer them. Good Luck!!!

also, i dont know if you have time to take clsses with summer ending and u having to work at your family business.

Yeah I’d love to know! You can just tell me after each one since the first one’s coming up!

@Ranza123‌ Great! Now I have a goal if not disappointing you! Haha! Thanks for everything again, you really helped me with the process.

@toesockshoe‌ Wow, you helped me alot! Holy crap! Lol, you gave me more confidence! About my senior year, I’m done with having fun, so I want to spend my year improving myself and show colleges that I really care about my future! Financially, we are okay. My parents said that I can take the tests as much as I want as long as I really try. They really care about my future and they spent so much for me. I want to show them I really appreciate everything they have done for me by improving my scores and getting into a good school. But if I doesn’t happen, yes I will go to a school that is right for me and probably transfer if I get a really good GPA. I haven’t thought much about the AACSB cred until you brought it up! How can I forget about that? Suffolk and Umass Amherst are one of those that I will apply to. Bentley is really good, but I don’t feel like I would fit and plus I probably get my Masters there. I also thought about Babson. You brought up really good points! Thank you so much for the help, for the link, and for the uplifting.

@NotAPlusAsian‌ awesome. also i recommend you take an accounting class at a local community college to see if you like it.i see a lot of people going into accounting and then failing it. just a small tip. anyway, i wish you the best of luck hope you get into your colleges!!!

@toesockshoe‌ True, accounting can be hard. But honestly, there’s nothing much that I would want to major in, and I want to major in that will help me in the long run. Since I’m interested in business, I finalized that I will get masters on accounting, whether it is hard or not, because it is the language of business. Also, because it will give me many opportunities.

@toesockshoe‌ and what do you think about Howard University? It has the AACSB cred, and it’s possible that I can get it.

mmm: here i think this thread will help you. : <a href=“Everything you wanted to know or should know about accounting - Business Major - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/business-major/511865-everything-you-wanted-to-know-or-should-know-about-accounting-p1.html</a></p>
