I took 3 AP tests, but my scores were not that great. According to the UPenn website, they didn’t talk too much about submitting AP scores; they said you must submit all SAT and ACT scores, but not AP scores. Also, many people said that AP scores don’t affect my chances of getting in. So, I just assumed that I don’t have to submit the AP scores to them.
However, if I don’t self-report the scores, would I be seen as a liar? I didn’t really think about the difference between self-reporting and officially reporting the AP scores until after I submitted the application. If I have to self-report them, am I allowed to call the admission people of UPenn to add those scores to my application (and will calling them to add the scores hurt my chances of getting in?)
Just my opinion but if you self reported some but not others then maybe someone would feel that was disingenuous but if you did not self report any AP scores that was your choice. (So you are not a “liar”) Note however that if you took the class as a Junior and did not report scores they are going to assume you did poorly on the exams. Or wonder why you didn’t take the tests. If you didn’t take the AP class and just took some tests then I don’t think you have to worry at all. You are only required to send official AP Scores if you are seeking to get college credit for them.
No
No.
At this point, what’s done is done. Yes, the AO may wonder why you did not submit some scores, particularly if it’s a course that carries the AP designation of the transcript. However, AP scores, in general, don’t carry much weight in the admissions process; they are mostly used for credit and/or placement.
