My DD decided, after we already registered, that she was happy enough with her SAT scores and didn't want to retake them. Does anyone know how this will affect her score recipients or what the score reprts will look like?

We can't seem to find anyone else who was ever crazy enough to do this!

I think this happens very frequently. My daughter had to register for the Nov. SAT test before she had the results of her October test. After she got her October scores, there was no need for her to take it again…hallelujah!

Unfortunately it looks like her October scores were not sent to the schools. She wanted all the scores to be sent, so maybe they were waiting for the November scores. I think maybe we need to let them know to send them asap.

So, yes, we were crazy enough to do this too, but I’m not sure what happens with the scores. I’ll post here if I learn anything!

Failure to take test means total cancellation. That also means total cancellation of all your free sends. Nothing will be sent to schools you designated as recipients of the Nov test when that score comes. That includes all prior scores; those will not be sent. CB will never provide the colleges with anything that shows you ever even registered for Nov test.

To send prior scores, you must now go in and do a separate send for $10 per college.

But haven’t prior scores already been sent? My D took the SAT last June and we had those scores sent (or so I thought). Also, it won’t let me just “pay for” and send scores. It keeps saying “you have 4 more days…”. I also can’t “cancel” the SAT, only reschedule to a new date.

Oh, and of course, I can’t seem to get a refund either. I figured that in the very least, I’d get some scores sent out of it.

If when you registered for a prior test you designated colleges to receive that test, then those tests (and any ones before then) were sent to the colleges when the scores came out. For example, if you took October test and when registering put in 4 colleges to receive them as your free sends, then those colleges now have the Oct tests (and any you took before Oct).

I am not sure mechanically what you need to do now to send prior tests but what you are trying to do is go into your Nov registration and attempt a send to colleges as part of that registration and that is why it keeps showing Nov scores will be included and why it says you still have four days to designate colleges. That you cannot do because that particular registration applies to the Nov test. You need to get to where you can just send prior scores outside of that Nov registration. There is no “4 day” or any other day issue for those tests which you can always send at any time for a $10 fee. If you cannot determine how that is done call CB. And yes, your cancelling the Nov test results in loss of the fee you paid for the test.

I called CollegeBoard this morning and found out that no scores will be sent because my dd had selected 4 schools as part of her registration for the November test. Because she didn’t take that test, she doesn’t get scores sent.

When she signed up for the October test, she didn’t designate 4 schools, so no scores were sent. So, today I paid 10.00 to get her scores sent to one school because she applied there early and the scores need to be there. The woman said it would take 1-2 weeks.

If she doesn’t get in to the early action school, we will pay to have scores sent to her other schools.

Basically, we lost the money we spent to register for the test, and 40.00 because we’re paying for 4 score reports that we could have gotten for free.

I am looking on the bright side-we signed up for the Nov. test as insurance in case her Oct. scores weren’t as high as she wanted. She didn’t need to take it and this is a good thing! I pay for car insurance, and thank god I’ve never been in an accident.

I’m trying not to think about how CollegeBoard makes money by kids not doing well and taking it again, and they also make money by kids registering and then finding out they did well!

^I know.
Isn’t it awful how you have to register for the next test date before you get your old scores back?

I’ve also always been curious why they don’t offer any tests in the summer… I mean, that would give kids so much more time to prepare when they’re not otherwise stressed out from school.

I called today and they walked me through ordering “additional” score reports. I told DD that she owes me the $40 bucks. Yeah, right…I’ll let you know if I ever collect.
