Difference between CalTech and MIT

Considering both schools, I haven't visited either but planning on doing that... quite quite soon. Wondering what the main differences between the two were(other then being on different coasts...) How is life on both, basically general questions to differentiate the two :)

50 degrees in the dead of winter!

^^^^^^^

'nuff said

other than weather, the boy-girl ratio at MIT is more or less 50 50 whereas in Caltech its like 70 30.

Caltech is much smaller than MIT -- Caltech has about 900 undergrads while MIT has about 4000.

MIT's core requirements are generally considered to be easier than Caltech's.

Caltech's immediate environment feels more suburban; MIT is sandwiched between Cambridge and Boston.

As other posters have mentioned, it is actually warm in Pasadena. :)

Both schools give their undergraduates excellent opportunities to learn cool stuff and work directly with famous professors.

sadly, it is warmer than 50 in the winter.
