Difference between Steinhardt MT and Tisch MT

Hello, can someone please highlight for me the differences between Steinhardt MT and Tisch MT programs? Thank you.

Steinhardt’s degree is a BM and their curriculum reflects that - lots of music theory, foreign language singing and vocal technique. Tisch’s degree is a BFA in Drama so there is more emphasis in the curriculum in acting technique. I have heard that Steinhardt’s performances are great but my D is an “actor who sings” and she chose Tisch. One of her classmate is a singer who acts…she chose Steinhardt. Both schools go through NYU admissions which means the student’s academic record is considered during the admissions process, along with their artistic review.

Steinhardt offers a Vocal Performance degree, not a theatre degree (BM vs. BFA). There are two specializations available for Steinhardt’s VP BM—classical and MT. While the requirements for the music department will be the same for all VP music majors, each of the two VP specializations have different requirements and often different classes. (So less foreign language singing for MT students.) The requirements for MT are spelled out on their website.
