While most people view others as being smart just because they’re in the honors program or if they get good grades, does this play into the factor of being interested in your major or if you have a high motivation level for studying?
What I’m trying to say: Is motivation and intelligence connected in the school setting? Going further, without a high motivation level, will you will struggle to get good grades by not studying enough? Or does it all depend on the situation?
I do struggle with motivation at times, but it’s not as bad as others. I keep up on all of my work, but at times, I made a few mistakes which is the reason why some of my grades are slightly affected. Overall, I’m doing better this semester and I plan on continuing my college career which will only be 2 years away after this semester is over.
Yes, without motivation, natural intelligence will only get you so far. Even the smartest people will eventually hit that class or subject that requires them to dig deeper and work harder than they’ve ever had to before to get the results they want. Without motivation, they won’t be able to make the adjustments required to get the grades they want. My D is at UC Berkeley. There are a lot of very smart kids at that school. The most coveted are the Regents Scholars. They are the ones that get thrown money and perks to entice them to come to the school. D is not a Regents, but she knows how to bust her hump and got better grades taking some of the same classes than some of her Regents friends. I’m not saying these Regents kids aren’t intelligent - they are, very. They just aren’t maybe used to having to grind - D has been doing it since high school, so she knows that you have to change things up if you want things to change. Yeah, she’s motivated.
