Hi everyone,

I used to use College Confidential earlier, around 2003/04, when I was looking for colleges, and had found it quite useful. So I'm back here again, and its almost 2012!

I was looking to get some sort of advice on my current profile, if an MBA is right for me, and if so, which schools should I realistically be looking at?

I'm originally from India (an am a citizen), and did rather well in my national school examinations. I've done my undergrad in Economics and Finance, from perhaps Southeast Asia's best business school. I, however, only got a GPA of 3/4, due to some not so grades in Econ courses. During this time, I also interned with a major international bank, first in Marketing and then in Finance.

I was hired out of school by the same bank, in their Credit Risk Management division, where I had the chance to work with some specialist portfolios like Commodities, Diamonds, Leveraged, Structured and Trade Finance. I worked here for 2 years before joining my current firm - one of the worlds largest Commodity Traders. I'm a Risk Manager for them, and even at a young age, I'm a decision maker where I get to approve trading strategies and funding plans by myself. The job has me shuttling betweeb 20 commodity types, and I'm slowly building up knowledge in this less publicized sphere.

On the side, I also completed the FRM (Financial Risk Manager) by GARP, and have just registered for the CAIA - Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst.

I'm looking to give the GMAT next year, and should be in contention for entering business / grad school for the Fall 2013 session.

My question is - whats a good fit for someone with my background? By Fall 2013, I would have 4 years of work experience, 2 in the specialist finance risk management of a major bank, and 2 in the overall risk management at a burgeoning commodities giant.

Does an MBA make sense for me?
