never heard of that before. humec is pretty different from cas… i know at least 3 people who were in humec that transferred out into cas because it didn’t meet their needs.

humecs easier to get into if you’re in NY… it’s a nice option if you really want cas but dont want the competition (during the application process). if you’re out of state, might as well apply CAS

you definitely need to look at the specific offerings in Human Ecology before you choose it. it has FAR fewer options than CAS, and a fairly different set of graduation requirements.

transferring between schools is possible, and there are info sessions and people here who would be able to help you figure that out, but you really shouldn’t plan for it.

yeah. i second faustarp (i love radiohead btw)… your eventual goal is a degree and spending time switching between schools isn’t really worth it. by sophomore year youll be working on your major pretty intensely so being a little behind and taking extra credits may have you wanting to jump off of thurston bridge. if you really want to be in CAS apply to it.

definitely do not plan on maneuvering between schools.

i’m in humec so i’m probably biased, but i used to be a psych major at my old school. it’s definitely different, but for me it’s exactly what i wanted. i would take a look at the course catalog and see what classes are in each school. depending on your prospective major, a lot are cross-listed with departments in CAS (or at least, for my major they are) so there will probably be some overlap. i wouldn’t apply to one over the other for the purpose of just getting in though, because they’ll probably see right through that.
