I've written an essay for the Common App, and I really like it a lot. It's a pretty good representation of me. However, my common app essay will work also a lot to my favor I believe if I used it as a supplement to Princeton and a couple of other schools. I would like to send this essay as a supplement to Princeton and send another essay (which is not bad either, but not as brilliant) as my common app. For the rest of my schools, I wanna use Essay #1 for common app. Can I do that? Is it common for people to create "alternative accounts" on Common App and submit different common app essays to different schools? Is it perfectly okay, or is it kind of a "trick" around things that I should avoid? Or should I work hard on trying to perfect essay #2 that I put equal amount of effort in, but just turned out to be less attractive than the first one?

Yes, you can do it, and it’s perfectly okay.

Creating separate alternate account is not normal, but creating alternate versions is. In the Common App FAQ they have a section on how to create and duplicate alternative versions of the CommonApp for different schools.

okay, thanks guys!
