Just curious what you people know about different departments at Cal. I know that engineering and business are supposed to be top notch but what about some of the social sciences ( economics, psychology, poli sci) Is Cal just an engineering school or does it have other outstanding departments?

yeah, and how about physics and molecular biology?
(sorry to hijak your thread, msagaski, but I figure anyone who can answer one of ours can hit the other's without too much trouble)

Its political science, English, Sociology, psychology, Philosophy and many other liberal arts majors are ranked in the top 5 of the country.

In Berkeley, its not just about having a good science, or a good liberal arts department. The next step is developing interdisciplinary majors that take advantage of both cutting edge science thoughts, and cutting edge humanities thoughts, and coming up with more things to be the first in.

berkeley is known for its well roundedness; social sciences, such as econ and poly sci, are top notch. the same goes for humanities; the english department is rated highly, for example

physics is also good; there is a ton of research going on with lawrence berkeley labs

mcb is a popular major, and with reason :)
