Where else can you start off in the engineering department (ranked #1), and then decide that your passion is in class sociology of technocrats and bureacrats, and switch to sociology (ranked #1), and then decide that in the end, you want to write poetry for a living and major in english (ranked #2)??

Where else can you do this? ONLY AT BERKELEY!!!

No matter which department you settle on, chances are that it is top ranked, and that you will be listening to the most progressive views, the best research, simply the most cutting edge innovative research there is out there. Its like being on Window’s XP while everyone else still has Windows 98.

And as far as interdisciplinary majors goes… no where else can you gain as much insight from so many different perspectives. Berkeley is about the most intellectual bastion of thought in many different fields as you can get in the entire world. This is why Berkeley is pretty much unparalleled in its international prestige.

Ah, let the propagandizing begin. I see that California1600/ West Side has returned, this time with an extra 'e' on the end of his screen name. I smell a debate involving sakky...

I got an internship at Northrop Grumman, the company that builds planes and materials for the U.S. military and some European countries as well I believe. By getting a summer intership at Northrop, would it appeal to the admission office at Berkeley? However, I'm really not interest in majoring in engineer but got the internship so it would look good in my application. My main emphasis is getting into UC Berkeley. You think that internship REALLY REALLY boost my chances of getting in?

Now, I don't think that college rankings should be trusted, but I looked at the ranking that 2bad4u is refering to and they, without a doubt, take the cake for the most laughable rankings ever produced. Please!!! Does anyone believe that 4 of the best 5 universities in the country are Ucla, texas tech, penn state, and texas? Interesting Colleges? Sure, they're interesting, but then again watching someone pound a nail through their figertip is also pretty darn intersting, but that doesn't make it good or usefull. Listen, Ucla is good school, I think we can all agree on that. So lets stop with all the trolling, shall we?

"2bad4u, just because you have ***** envy of berkeley doesnt mean you have to come over here and flame the best UC"

LOL, I was admitted to Berkeley for last fall. I chose not to go, why would I have envy, I am perfectly happy where I am. as a side note I was also admitted to UCLA but didnt go their either.
