ANY chance for Wharton?

"SAT I Math Score: 750
SAT I CriticalReading Score: 800
SAT I Writing Score: 740
2230 in total (retook it, waiting for score)"

I must be missing something. Doesn't that equal 2290?

Yea, sry, Its kinda messed up, its 2290.

Well, anyone else? Please...

any chance? yes, you do have a chance. just like everyone else who applied -- you do have a chance.

my answer would be different if you ask how good is your chance. the answer would be: i don't know.

You have a good chance. Your class rank is kind of low but the fact that you go to a highly competitive high school might make up for it. What % of students from your class will matriculate to top colleges?

if you ace your essay, you should be good to go for wharton

My school sends about 20-25 to top schools. This year: 3 to Princeton, 2 to Harvard, 1 to Stanford, Yale, Dartmouth, MIT, and many more to the lower Ivies and equivalents. And it was a weaker class than usual.

Btw, Ivy Hopeful, are you already in at Wharton?

no tu160m, I'm applying this year to Huntsman, but I do know people at Wharton with worse stats than you.

how are you different?

Unlike most ppl, I dont have an interest in business just because you can make money. I want to study Finance because, to me at least, it is the study of perfection. Of course, I am implying I want to go into investment banking or some other related field. I've been investing in the virtual stock market for at least four years (with market-beating success) and I realized that I'm obsessed. So, to me its about passion. And my ECs point to that too. I dont have too much of a business background, but whatever i did, i put my heart into it. My only disappointment is my GPA and rank.

And I've lived in another country for most of my life, can speak four languages not including English, etc. So, i add diversity i guess.

should i apply early? or should i wait until second semester and my gpa increases a bit? Then, i can be sure im in the top 10 percent.

Would a reccomendation by my Congressman help? He knows me quite well since I worked on his campaign.

Read Rich Dad Poor Dad. If you are in business for any reason other than to make money, you are bound to fail. Whaton won't buy that 'I just want to go into finance because it is a perfect art junk for a minute' You might feel that way, but do you honestly think they are going to believe it?

BTW. You are a typical asian. I was expecting to see a stellar athlete. Now that is an atypical asian.

My brother's been investing for real since he was 14. You do Stock Sims...I dont see a passion unless I missed something?

Your grades/scores are competitive, but by reading your app, I would never have guessed business. Hospital, Political volunteer, model UN. It is scattered, but I would have said Pre-Med or Political Sci major. Business never even crossed my mind. That lack of focus on your application makes it quite doubtful that you will be admitted.

Well, I didnt have any oppurtunities to do Business (I'm not too rich, plus I'm an international and not allowed to practice Business in the US). So, I decided to concentrate on leadership. I've had a really good portfolio with over 45 to 50 percent profit per year for the past four years. Thats more than a lot of professionals can say about their portfolios. So, if I had the money and legal status to invest for real, I could have paid for college completely on my own.
