I’m applying statistics to UCLA and math to UC berkeley. How can I answer my personal insight questions about how i prepared for my major if they are different majors? Do you think the 2 majors are close enough together as to where I would only need one essay? My current essay is mostly about math, but I’m curious talking about my love for math would be enough for statistics as well since math and stats are similar.
I remember reading a post regarding insight questions.
Don’t mention a specific UC in your questions. Thats like calling someones phone to get another phone number for someone else.

Math and stats are close enough where you can make it work and seem seamless.
Despite this … I applied to 4 UC’s last year. One was business at UC Berkeley and the rest were econ-based at 3 other UC’s. My personal statement about my interest in major was 100% tailored to business at Berkeley. Like, the opening sentence was “my interest in studying business at UC Berkeley was a result of…”
I got into all 4. I didn’t apply to UCLA though but maybe they read more than the other UC’s. Not sure.
