<p>I've written an essay that Microsoft Word puts at 502 words. I've submitted another application (not the Common App) in which when I pasted the essay into the box, the word count was stated at 499. I've tried many online counting tools, some putting my essay at 499, some at 506.</p>
<p>Do you think it would be acceptable to just submit my essay as is?</p>

<p>I remember reading that there wasng 100 words leeway, so anything between 400-600 is fine. I’m not sure though.</p>
<p>It’s probably fine as it is. Just go with the word count on your application.</p>
<p>If you are planning on submitting your essay for the Common App, you just need to make sure it fits in the Preview .pdf space.</p>
