Differnet edition same questions?

Ah, please don't tell me different editions of SAT prep have same questions..

for example, PR 2009 and 2010.

I don't want to run out of books that I could study while my score is NOT INCREASING at all.

Huh? No one on this forum really recommends doing PR/Barrons or anything of the sort but I don’t doubt that the different editions will have the same tests. Regardless, you should NOT be using tests other than the official questions and you certainly should not be running out of tests… how have you been studying?

I’ve been taking the SAT practice test everyday… and took a break today because it proved to be not very effective.

a quick question… why not PR/ Barron tho?
Isn’t being familiar with different books’ questions a good thing…??

Wow, a test every day is WAY too much and won’t do anything for you. I’m not surprised it’s ineffective. If you don’t go over the tests you’ve taken, you’ll keep making the same mistakes over and over again and at that point you’re just overworking yourself and wasting valuable tests. How many BB tests do you have left? (if any…) =/

Being familiar with the questions in different books won’t help you at all (might even be detrimental) since the only questions you need to know are from the CB. The questions are not like the real thing and you can’t use the strategies that could be used on REAL questions.

Yep, same questions. They don’t expect someone to get both years.

Well, I did try to resolve the questions i missed or skipped.
Then I went over the tests i took…
For the BB book, I heard that its tests were made by real SAT makers
So I decided to save and take them when I’m getting a fairly good score with other SAT books. ^^

Should I just study with the blue book?? What if my score is not where it is after taking all the tests on the blue book?? Sorry…I’m not trying to disprove what u said. I will definitely follow your advice, but what should I do after taking them all if my scores are not high enough? Will I have to accept my limit or live with it??

Ah. Please help/advice me^^

Why did you miss those questions? Was it because of stupid mistakes or because you didn’t know the material? If the latter, you should actually learn the concepts because strategies can only get you so far on the SAT.

Also, check out the Xiggi Method, which is stickied. You should be going over EVERY question in depth, not just the ones you got wrong. You need to know why the questions you got right were right. The SAT is standardized so the better you know the test, the better you’ll do on it. How have you been going over the questions?

The BB(made by the real test makers) along with QAS and the online course are the most valuable resources you’ll have for the SAT so don’t waste them. How many BB tests have you done? You shouldn’t waste energy on the tests made by PR/Kaplan/Barrons because they are simply inaccurate and won’t increase your score.

What’s your score range currently?
The following books are an absolute must…

  1. BB
  2. DH vol 1+2 (for vocab)
  3. Grubers (not 2400) for math
  4. RR/ Grammatix for writing/CR
In addition, there are some really good threads on here that can really help your essay and CR. One is by AcademicHacker, the other is by Noitaraprep.

After you learn all the material on the test (which really isnt much), its all about strategy. For math, you need to learn the concepts. For writing, research examples and memorize/understand grammar rules. For CR, learn vocab and be less subjective.

Running out of tests really shouldn’t be an issue. Quality over Quantity. Take one test ever few weeks, not every day.

That’s about it…

I missed/skipped the questions for a few reasons.

  1. I could not pace myself and ran out of time
  2. I don’t get what the author is ‘primarily doing’ or implying…I suck at Enlish.

My problems are critical reading and writing…
I think I am okay with math. at least. fluctuating between 730-760.

But I do suck at critical reading and writing…

I haven’t taken the real Sat yet
but I’ve taken psat and … haha… the score was 184.
My score range for the practice tests that I’ve taken this summer is…2000-2050.

Thanks for the help.
