To all current students at Cornell, is the curriculum really hard and the curve unfavorable? Sorry, I'm not really up to date with the Ivy Leagues.

Current student here studying chemistry in A&S. For the record: I am very happy here and couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else.

That being said, I will say first that Cornell is not for everyone. Math/premed/engineering classes here are intense. No one will hold your hand here or give you handouts. However, professors are overall very helpful and will provide every possible resource for their students to succeed. Likewise, older students and TAs are very knowledgeable and approachable. I have found curves to be fair for premed classes, most go to a ‘B’ average, although smaller classes won’t curve for better or worse. The dynamic among students is the most cooperative I’ve ever seen, especially with engineers. Despite the reputation for competitiveness, I haven’t really encountered any diehard ‘cutthroats’, most people adopt the “work hard, play hard” mentality.

The expectation is for you to forge your own destiny- with everything you could ever need at your disposal. The alumni network and employer recruiting is so strong because they understand what it takes to earn the degree.

Thanks Disney!
