As the topic says, I just want to know how difficult Barron’s is compared to the real Calculus BC test.
Can anybody help here?
I personally thought that the AP test was harder than the Barron’s. Barron’s was easier by just a bit, though, not a lot easier. The BC test, when I was taking it last year, felt like actual calculus hell to me. I did pretty well in the class (I got like a 93% both semesters) but the AP test was felt really difficult (not nearly as difficult as the AP physics test tho, if that helps for comparison). I remember that my classmates and I - even the smartest people in my grade - walked out going “what the heck did i just take???” and with crazy hair (since we were all fiercely running our hands through our hair and trying to resist pulling our hair out). Despite this, though, I got a BC 4 and an AB subscore of 4!
TL;DR the AP test is difficult but you probably won’t do as bad as you think if you use Barrons! It’s a good help book imo. widely used by people at my school
Barron’s test is harder. But the style of questions is not the same, so some students get thrown off.
@Idiots123 I have never taken the AP Calculus BC Exam but am planning to on May 9. For the FRQ, I am practicing past years and the youtuber Turkvids is a great source if you need help with the FRQ’s. For the Multiple Choice, I am mostly practicing from Barrons, and 5 Steps to a 5.
I’m using Barron’s right now to selfstudy (yikes, I started just this week lol) and the questions are seeming a bit tough… I kinda feel like they’re a bit harder than the actual test questions in terms of the way they test the material but like some people feel that the official test is harder just because they aren’t used to its format. I’d suggest taking some official practice tests that you can find online I suppose just to get used to the way the questions are asked.
couldn’t agree with u more @YoohooAddict . welcome to the club of starting this week lolol
@putinator I basically screwed myself… The only APs that I’m actually being taught in school are Bio and Lang… And 2 months ago, I decided to selfstudy Physics C (with only basic conceptual physics background from freshman year), Calc BC ( I selfstudied AB last year, so I thought it wouldn’t be too difficult lolol), and Psych (ya Idfk why I’m taking this one lmaoo)… but if I wing this, I’ma be so frkin proud… like 2 months of preppin physics c and 3 weeks of preppin calc bc, and it ending with great scores would just be …lol Anyway, thanks for the welcome.
We could always make a study group on groupme or something, if y’all want?
@YoohooAddict a study group sounds like a good idea. Lets make one. Got a Skype? Lets PM
@putinator Skype lol? I was thinking of using groupme so we could always be in touch in case we do need to talk… But if we do need to do vid chats, we can probably use Google Hangouts I guess
Did you guys make a GroupMe?
@mundanewarrior Yes we did. PM me if you’d like to be added
