I have been struggling to find the right major for me. I am almost done with my first year at UW and took classes that I interested me. My intended major when I first started school was Computer Science or Informatics, but after taking CSE142 and got a grade that was really just unbearable, I decided to change my mind. I looked into Public Health because I have always been interested in health and policies that promote a healthier society so I was wondering how difficult it is to get into the Public Health major here at UW and getting a BA degree? What is the average GPA for accepted students and what is the acceptance rate?

@swishbig I applied to the BA Public Health program for Fall 2014. I am a transfer student at a community college getting an Associate in Pre Nursing this coming June. I plan to get an BA in Public Health and then get a BS in Nursing afterwards. I talked to the advisors then they told me since they just changed the core classes this quarter, they have no idea how competitive it is! I have healthcare experiences as a nursing assistant and a 3.83 gpa! I compeleted all the prerequisites too. I will find out my admission in a few weeks I will let you know if I got in or not to set an example if you want

@sywso1 Wow that’s awesome! Thank you!

@swishbig Wow, it turns out the Public Health department notified me much earlier than I have expected. Yay! I am offered admission for the BA option

@sywso1 Congrats! Do you know what the average gpa of admitted students were?
