Hi, I am an international student and I have been admited to KU and will be attending this fall.
I want to major in Computer Science so I entered the school of engineering. Maybe it is too soon to start thinking about it, but I plan on applying for transfer admission at a nother university with a better computer science program (Nothing to do with KU, I have not been there yet and maybe I like it, but it doesn't hurt to try for better :)).
Of course I plan to get all As in my classes :) I feel more than capable for doing so, but I would like some opinions about the difficulty of the courses.
During my first semester I will be taking: Programmin I, Calculus I, Composition and an elective. What about this or the following courses? Does it requiere extra hardwork to get an A?

Thank you in advance.

I wish I could help, but it’s the end of the semester AND finals week, and most people I know in those programs have already dispersed for the summer. I have no idea about Programming or Calculus, and I know those will probably be the classes that will require the most effort for a good grade. Calculus is tough business, because I’m assuming you will be in MATH 121, and that one is a weed-out class for all of the sciences & engineering. Composition isn’t bad at all though. Be prepared to write one or two essays. But beyond that, I honestly can’t help you. I don’t know anything about KU CS either… Wish I could help you more!!

Thanks for your response. I am already taking Calculus 3 at a peruvian university (courses here are REALLY demanding, so i believe I will be used to that when I arrive to KU). Don’t worry about it, you have helped me still. I ahve no problem writting essays, it may be a bit boring but I can’t avoid it, so I will do my best.

Calculus should be easy just about anywhere you take it, just do your homework and you’ll be fine.
