Digital Arts?

Hey does anybody know how good the digital arts major is at Chapman (such as rank, etc)? or know any sort of knowledge about it, besides the fact that it is a very new major?

Thanks!

Since it's new, I can't imagine that anyone would know much about it. As I've looked around at film schools, I've found that there aren't any reliable rankings out there...they are all just somebody's opinion. I am guessing it's the same for digital arts. At least at Chapman you'd have access to the latest technology.

I know someone in LA who's very accomplished as a 3-D special effects specialist for film. He did "Friday the l3th" which had some wicked special effects, and of course more recent projects, too.

When this guy goes into a movie theater, he goes up into the projection room and makes sure his movie's being shown properly; he starts messing around with their equipment until they get it right.

Anyway, he was consulted when the new Knott Studios were being built, and he said this is the first film school in the country "to completely embrace digital technology." so he's very excited about Dodge.

He says across the country, all movie houses will go digital in the coming few years, so they won't be shipping out reels of film to project. Rather, they'll be sending out "data."

Maybe you'll be in the front of this curve? At least consider exploring what Chapman means by "digital arts." Could be something worthwhile...

oo very interesting... thanks for the info!
