Hi, I'm currently a freshmen declared as a civil engineer and i'm really REALLY stressed out about deciding if i should stick with it. I know everyone keeps saying that it's still early and i still have time to explore, but there's also the factor of not wasting my time with classes if i dont need them.

First quarter i took:
Chem 20A : B-
Math 31B: B
Eng Comp 2I: A+
C&EE 1: Pass

Though i believe my grades were decent, i'm still very iffy about sticking with a science major. I dont do well emotionally in science classes because i become too intimidated.

I was thinking about going into Math/applied Sciences - Management & Accounting Plan but after the 1st day of math class, I'm SUPER intimidated by my math class (32A w/ Biskup).

Then i thought about maybe just becoming Pre-Bus/Econ but i have NO IDEA if i would be interested in the major. I've always thought it would be a pretty cool major though.

I'm currently enrolled in
Math 32A (Biskup)
Physics 1A (Williams)
English Comp 3 (Maasik)

I'm tempted to drop Physics 1A and just pick up another class but I cant find anything to enroll in. Italian 46 seems to fit my schedule somewhat well. Or any other suggestions?

Is giving up HSSEAS up a smart move considering that I'm not sure if i even have another major that i can pick up and like?

AHHH I"VE NEVER BEEN SO STRESSED OUT IN MY LIFE!!! I"VE BEEN CRYING MY EYES OUT EVERYDAY JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS!!
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!! ='(

you worry way too much man. you gotta go with what you think is right. Find something you might think is interesting and take it up. If you like it take more classes in that direction.

go to the career center and talk with the counselors there. They can help you figure out what might be best for you in terms of a career and how to prepare for it.

I'm also guessing you don't have much exposure to civil engineering in the working world since you're talking just about classes and not what whether you'd like the field after graduating. Don't overlook the alumni resources that are available to you at ucla. There are lists of alums, available thru either the career or alumni center (I don't know which), who have volunteered to talk to current students about their careers. I suggest you take advantage of that to get a feel whether there is a branch of civil engineering that is right for you. This can help you decide whether you should stay where you are or switch.

lol and I'm in your physics lecture
the other 32A teacher is kinda boring but not very intimidating
I'm also considering switching majors but I'm gonna see how this quarter goes first

oh I meant williams's physics class, right before malkan's class
he uses the blackboard, which is already covered up with so much chalk dust that you can barely read what he's writing :/
