I have seen that movie lol. I highly doubt I could go there without permission because it’s just too big of a risk. I sent you a PM just now explaining a situation.

So apparently me asking my parents has ****ed them off so much, the past two days EVERY thing I do they’ve been yelling at me. For literally no reason. I haven’t ever seen them so mad at me, and everytime they get mad at me, it’s another 4 hour lecture of the same things over and over again. I didn’t know they got offended that easily…
that’s another reason why I wish I could go away from Texas as far as possible for college…

Well you don’t have to be a punching bag, not even for parents. You’ll be 18 soon and responsible for your own life. I have seen many young people in this situation. Generally, if you claim your independence, the parents adjust.

However, much of this may become irrelevant in the end. The 40K per year for Michigan will probably make UT the better choice. You don’t want to start off your life with 200K in debt, not in this economy. Ann Arbor is a great place, but not that great.

On the UM verses UPenn question, have your dad look at the home page for Coursera.org. They offer courses to the public from the most elite schools. Those schools are: Princeton, Stanford, UPenn, and UMich.

So how’s all this coming along?

UM is extremely expensive for OOS, and UT is a top tier school at a bargain if you are in state. My son is applying to UM ONLY because his major is not offered at Texas (where he would be an *********) and it is KILLING me. I think UM is a great school, but the difference in cost really would not be justifiable if there were a program that worked for him. Have you had a chance to visit UT? Go on a visit, hang out in Austin, it’s a wonderful place and a heck of a lot warmer than UM!
