I wanted to take AP Physics at my school, but didn't make it in because I had some really mediocre grades in math back in freshmen and sophomore year.
And I was really looking forward to the class.....
Would it look weird if I took regular physics at school AND the physics course at a local community college? I'm aiming to take the SAT and the AP exam for Physics at the end of the year.

You can just take the normal and self-study whatever AP goes over, then take the test somewhere else. I guess if I saw that I would be sort of confused, but you can explain it to whatever college, they give you opportunities to explain weird stuff.

If that's what you want to do though, then go ahead.

Were your math grades worst than a B?

why can't you just take the class at the community college? my high school will give you credit for taking a class there.

My grade slipped first semester sophomore year and I got a C+ in Honors Algebra2. Because of that C+, I was dropped out of the Honors program and am in regular classes now. =(.

But thanks for the reply, everyone!
I'm not sure if my school will count the community classes as credit; my school is a competitive high school renowned for math and science, so it's a pretty big deal . I guess I'm gonna have a talk with my counselor.
Once again, thnak you!

i understand how you feel.

i can't enroll in certain classes because i got a C one semester in honors chem. the other semester i took regular chem and got an A. it's kind of discouraging when you know you are capable of taking a class and getting a good grade but the school won't let you.

you should bring your mom in and have her fight for you with the counselor. i think they listen more to parents. don't give up on taking AP physics at your school, if you think you are capable of handling it. if you can handle the class at a community college, i think you'd be able to handle it at high school. maybe you could get one of your teachers to recommend you be able to take the class?

THANK YOU!
You know, I would bring my mom to my counselor, but the thing is, my mom doesn't speak English =(. I think I'll talk to my Chem teacher though and ask her to recommend me. It's really frustrating to see the people who got into the class instead of me; it may just be myself feeling bitter, but I just felt that I could contribute more to the class because I always ask questions and get involved. =( oh well.
