I don't eat so much, and I want to buy food off campus that doesn't accept the cards too!
What do you guys do when it's left over?

If it’s not refundable; I’m just gonna purge all my left over on junk food…

You can sell it to other students at a discounted rate but bottom line is, you don’t get all the money back that you spent. Most students go to earl’s place and buy bulk items from costco or home appliances with the leftover. I think I had around 500-600 leftover by the end.

oh you can use it at costco? whats earl?

You can’t use it at costco but earl’s place orders things from costco and you can buy them at earl’s. Earl’s Place is a little shop in Warren with treats, snacks, groceries etc, similar to all of the other “Place and Markets” that are in each college

So I can potentially order a new computer with enough left over money from earl’s/ from costco?

or can we use the money on laundry also? Is there anywhere on campus that sells computer hardware?

The bookstore sells computer stuff aswell. Authorized Apple dealer too. ;)

do most people have leftover money or do they have to add more to the dining dollars?

No, you can’t use dining dollars for your laundry.

Most guys I know had to add more dining dollars, most girls I know had a lot leftover. Depends how much you eat.

Hmm, then how does this costco/ earl’s place method work? It sounds interesting.

^ read through hds.ucsd.edu

^ where on the web page? I’m not really good at internet.

^GOOGLE 10 char

wow. that helps.

Sorry for the lack of spoon feeding

Plus I don’t even think the info is online, you might have to just go there and find out about it when you arrive on campus

well just one last question. Can we use the dining money on those fast food chain stores?

they don’t sell computer **** that you can buy with your dining dollars, sorry. and the dining halls will only sell stuff from costco AT THE END OF THE YEAR. AND, its still ridiculously overpriced from the regular costco price so don’t get too excited about it. its simply to get rid of extra dining dollars you have left over at the end of the year.

no tonito, you can’t. learn to use google. why does everyone have to spoonfeed you everything? go on the housing and dining site and search that **** up yourself. this is college now, your an adult. your high school teachers aren’t here to baby you anymore.

@tonito
And learn to use the search function on CC too. I remember leftover dining dollars being asked about not too long ago. School starts soon, so I suggest you learn how to use the ol so magnificent internet and familiarize yourself with the school a bit :/. And before you even start to think “oh ucsd is filled with such rude students,” go back and read some of your posts on this thread. They were rude too.
