If you are a first year (or other student with an unlimited meal plan), can you eat lunch at any of the dining halls associated with houses (i.e. Bartlett, Cathey or Baker) or do you have to go to the one for your house?
You can eat wherever but there won’t be a house table for you in the other dining hall.
So like, Snitchcock kids can eat at Cathey, but they’ll have to find some friends to sit with or else just sit at some random house’s table.
Cool kids call them South and North.
There are non-house tables in all dining halls that you can eat in if it isn’t your dining hall. South has the fishbowl in the front with a lot of tables, Bartlett has side tables, and North has two sides to it, one with house tables and one with open tables (you can now walk up to North and look in if if you’re in Hyde Park, it’s very exciting).

Great – thanks! It seemed odd that the Dining website didn’t answer this pretty basic question, but I’m getting the impression that’s par for the course wrt U of C’s online resources.
Yeeeeep. Welcome to UChicago.
