Can someone please explain the dining programs and options at Wash U?

My friend visited a few weeks ago and told me that it looked like most of the dining halls or options within some of the dining halls were closed when she was there.

She went on a Saturday.

She was told that Wash U was rated #1 in dining nationally, but said she didn't see how that could be.

This link will explain the meal plan and dining options to you:

Basically freshmen are required to at least get the silver plan. The only reason why your friend saw that most of the options were closed was probably because she went at an hour when not too many kids are eating lunch and dinner. Usually, there are many options open around lunch and dinner times and some stations are even open to 3 A.M.

Given that it was a weekend I’m not sure what your friend was expecting. There obviously isn’t the demand of a weekday given that many people aren’t even on campus.

The residential areas have plenty of food options available, but main campus is kind of quiet on Saturday and Sunday.
