Could any current students give me a rundown of how good each of the 3 freshman dining plans is? I love to eat, but I don't want to feel limited to dining hall food if I get sick of it. I'll definitely be eating 3 meals a day during the week, and probably 2 on the weekends.

Originally I was pretty set on doing the plan with unlimited swipes, but I was advised to pick a plan with more dining dollars because the dining hall food gets old very quickly. The middle plan is only 12 swipes a week though, and I don't know if that'll be enough.

Oh hey thar I’m getting the Best Fit one, the one with the least amount of swipes and the most Dining dollars. I went to a month long camp at a university and I can tell you, it gets old…fast. And it’s good for me who sometimes just wants a small meal at random times. Anyway I already picked it on Campus Express so I can’t change it.

Dining dollars can’t be used on food trucks, just gotta pay with real money (would be amazing if you could though!). As for using them as a substitute I’m not quite sure…

You can still purchase food at the dining halls with dining dollars. It sucks you can’t use the dining dollars at the food trucks. We can use them at the restaurants around campus, wawa, and Starbucks? I never saw a conclusive list.

I’m choosing Balanced Eating Naturally(last plan) with 12 swipes/week because I normally eat large lunches+dinners and small breakfasts so I want to eat in the dining hall for lunch+dinner. I didn’t choose Best Fit because the dining dollars work only at the cafes etc where I really only want to go for breakfast and since food trucks take cash.

In the campusexpress brochure it says the dining dollars can be used @
-Houston Market
-Einstein Bros
-1920 Commons Retail
-McClelland
-Starbucks
-Mark’s Cafe
-Farmer’s Market
-Joe’s Cafe

There’s something like 110ish days in a semester so 212.50 would require you spend fewer than $2 on breakfast everyday … and that’s assuming you only use your DD on breakfast.

Personally, I usually eat poptarts for breakfast so I think I’ll have a lot more DD left to spend on the occasions I do buy breakfast. Also, with the Best Fit one which I also considered it would leave you 400$ DD/semester which is not alot because you have to buy 13 meals a week?

I reccommend waiting until tomorrow when we get to dorm assignments to make the final dining plan decision so we can determine depending on proximity from dining halls which plan to choose.
