Study Hall

I am not supposed to have a study hall! I am supposed to be in 11th grade Honors English, but there are scheduling conflicts as I go to a small underfunded school in which APs are only offered during one period.

My English teacher has a free period the period of my study hall though. I asked her if she would teach a sort of extension course but she refused. It would have been my friend and me in the class as the two of us are in this predicament.

I'm wondering if this will look bad on my transcript, as I plan on applying to top tier schools. Also, I need 4 years of English to graduate. So yes. This absolutely blows.

well if you need 4 years to graduate, english should be your first priority. your schedule is very tough, so is there a regular that period? or willing to do gt? otherwise i'd definitely drop the your least favorite class

The only way to get your english credit is to either drop a class or go down to regular english. Here's a suggestion, since you are already taking a Calculus BC, you should drop Statistics, so that you can get your honors English credit, and sign up for an interesting elective to take the place of study hall.

Edit: I didn't know that you were only going to be a junior next year.

you could double up, if you liked british literature and that met the requirements, but personally i dont want any strings attached going into my senior year (except required english) personally, id find a way to take it this yeae

I agree, drop AP Stat and take it senior year. English is a 3-4 year requirement for most colleges. Stat is probably most useful senior year too.

how many ap's does your school offer? if its anything like my small underfunded school...theres probably not alot. Take one of those ap's or two and take em your senior year.

I found out there is World Literature 12A offered my study hall. Should I just take that? My teacher said that I can take AP English 12 senior year.

I have that too. thanks to my cheap school which will spend nothing on academics but spend millions on a new field house (actually i like it, indoor track helps me train in the winter, yes, i'm an athlete)

I had problems with AP Stats and Honors English 11, i dropped AP Stats, i could take that senior year

Yeah, I would do that too, but dropping AP Stat doesn't make an open period where honors English is taught. Calc BC is the class that conflicts. So since I will probably go into math/physics in college, Calc BC > Honors English for sure.

I think World Literature might be interesting anyway. British Literature seems kind of bland, minus 1984 and Beowulf.
