Direct admit advantages

There was a different thread that said there were little to no advantages to being direct admit over not being direct admit to Kelley Business School. Actually, there are a few other advantages to Direct Admit over not being a direct admit.

The first of these is the ability to take honors courses immediately. These honors courses are needed if you want to get "business honors" or "general honors" listed on your diploma. Since you need to take an average of two per semester over the first two years, this is easier for direct admit students than for those who don't get in until sophomore year (and thus have to take four honor courses per semester).

The second is the ability to participate in the "Sophomore Block" trips and courses.

Here is the website that gives the info on this and other "special programs" offered by the Kelley Business School:
<a href="http://www.kelley.iu.edu/ugrad/special/%5B/url%5D">http://www.kelley.iu.edu/ugrad/special/</a></p>

Third is the ability to guarantee that you get into certain required courses. Since you are able to sign up for honors courses that are limited to only honors students, you can pretty much be certain to get a course that others may not get into. For example, BUS K201 has been completely full both of the first two semesters by the time my son went to sign up. Yet honors students were able to sign up for the honors version of this course, and last I saw it still had open spots available (but only for honors students).

P.S. As far as the T-shirt you get, does anyone know if it's the "Kelley Business School--Join us now or work for us later" one? My son saw one of these but could not find anyplace to buy it--so he's thinking it must be the one given to the Direct Admit students.

The one they gave us boasts of Kelley being a "Top Ten Business School According to Businessweek" and lists some random reasons why Kelley is sooo amazing
