Hey guys!
first post, and it feels good. can't wait to meet everyone here!

so SAT vocab is possibly the most exciting piece of studying I've ever done. obscure words and I may never hear out loud? why not? that was sarcasm by the way. not sure how to communicate that.

anyway, Direct Hits is clearly the best method for solving this epidemic, and I've bought both core and toughest 2011 editions. so question is, is it worth it to get the new 2012 4th edition?

I get this feeling that the examples/questions and most of the words are the same. and so on a sidenote, if this is legal, would anyone care to post/pm the 20 new words?

much thanks!

Daughter just got the 4th edition. 220 words, divided into core vocab 1-50 and core vocab 51 -100, people words (iconoclast, etc.) 101-130, etymology 131-155, prefix words 156-200, author/speaker’s attitude/tone/mood 201-220. First words (in groups):

1) ambivalent
2) anomaly, anomalous
3) sarcastic, sardonic, snide
4) dearth, paucity
5) prattle
6) wry, droll
7) unconventional, unorthodox
8) meticulous, painstaking, fastidious
9) audacious
10) indifferent, apathetic

Never seen the other editions–perhaps the examples are what changes (Lady Gaga and Katy Perry under #7, for instance).

Good luck!

Katy Perry and Lady Gaga for unconventional, unorthodox? yup, same example. The 2011 edition (core) only has the first 4 groups, for a total of 200 words. Is there any chance that anyone could post the last 20 words for the 4th edition ‘core’ book or the 4th edition toughest book? It would be much appreciated.

One more thing, the 2011 editions have a handful of review question at the end of each section. For example the first question in the first section of the core book is: “In contrast to the clandestine maneuvers…always open and_____.” Are the review questions the same?

thanks again!
