Disappointed by the ranking by Businessweek

Anyone also sad that NU got bumped down to 38 from 32?
Can anyone explain why? Our stats such as Median Salary, Job Placement and Internship rate are much higher than schools ranked in the top 20's.... so confused.

I found that a bit disappointing too (CBA alum here). What hurt was Northeastern’s “Recruiter Survey” ranking at 96! That is very surprising given NU’s career office ranks among the best in other surveys. Big state university business schools sort of dominate in that category. Maybe the fact that so many NU students take career jobs with their coop employers means there are relatively few people to interview when recruiters come to campus? Who knows. The fact that NU CBA does well in the others categories is reassuring.

Seriously, you have to stop basing everything on ranking. There is so much more to a college than a number. Just like there is so much more to the applicants than SATs and GPAs. If you don’t want to be reduced to a number, don’t reduce the colleges you apply to to a number.

Ranking is not always accurate is often biased in some way. Businessweek’s ranking, for example, have always been controversial. The fact that they rank Wharton fourth shows how “accurate” their ranking is. IMO, rankings provide a general guideline, but the quality of each program could not be “quantified.” Never judge a school by its ranking, I guess that’s what I’m trying to point out.
