Discouraged about GPA

I have a 3.4 gpa, and it's really disappointing. I don't know how it got low but it isn't up to par with what I wanted and it it makes me feel incredibly bad. Does anyone feel this way about their low(ish) gpa?

What grade are you in?

I’m a junior

Try to take whatever courses next year that will ensure GPA weight - Dual Enrollment courses are notorious for this. There’s little that can be done to raise your unweighted GPA beyond what is mathematically possible on a normal 4.0 scale - but if weighted rank is your concern, you can certainly bring it up if your school puts additional weight on AP courses and Dual Enrollment. Take as many AP and DE courses as possible - limiting yourself to what you know you can do well in. (So, in theory, you could take 7 APs, but if you can only really handle 4 - take 4.)

Dual Enrollment brought up my first semester senior year GPA from around a 3.74 to a 3.81. It is a Godsend.

Thank you, I will definitely plan on taking AP courses over the summer, maybe a college course as well. I’m in the IB program so there isn’t much flexibility in the classes I can take but thank you!
