discouraged... in need of advice..

I am a senior in college and I am taking a year off between graduation and (hopefully) med school. Here's my breakdown:

I go to a top ivy league school ('06) and am a science major
I am a GA state resident
I am a 21 year old south asian male
my MCAT is a 32 O (V: 9, B: 11, P:12)
and my GPA is ~3.4
extracurrics: fraternity, tons of neurosci research (published), a little clinical stuff
year off: either working as an EMT or doing research (either at Penn or NIH)

My GPA is a little lower because there was a semester my junior year when I had a death in my family right before finals and ended up getting almost straight Cs (2.22 GPA). Since that semester, however, everything has been ~3.8. If you don't count that semester, my GPA would be ~3.5.

Basically, I'm mostly concerned about my mediocre MCAT and I am worried about what kind of a medical school I can get into. Because I go to an Ivy League school, all my friends are looking at top notch schools, but I'm not sure what kind of school I'd be looking at.

Does anyone have any advice? should I retake my MCAT? should I do postbac work to pull up my GPA? What kind of med school do you think I have a chance at?

3.4 and a 32 at an Ivy is not bad. You should get into SOME med schools, probably not the top ones like Hopkins or Harvard.

Umm....

You can still get into Hopkins....first of all I go to hopkins undergrad..and i know people who got into the med school who were not as stellar as you..just make sure your essays and recs convey a lot about you..aslo if your taking a year off..i plan to do the same...do something worthwhil...like Peace Corps..teach america..or even get a masters...that is becoming favorable to the admissions committee.

yea but its a ridiculously high amount of people from jhu undergrad getting into jhu med school....
i believe 20%?
someone correct me if im wrong but it is pretty high considering jhu med school is among the very best

Actually...Hopkins doesnt accept a lot of their own undergrad...only like 15 people...and at least 100 people are applying to medical school at Hopkins...maybe 20% are referrring to the people accepted to jhu medical school that are from JHU undergrad

o yah ur rite mb
still a very high number.
