I think you are correct in that they only sent out acceptance emails. However, their last communication stated they would send out decisions, not only acceptances, on Monday. While I am disappointed that I likely wasn’t accepted to Discover 2013, I think I am more upset that my second choice college seems to not have it all together. They extended the submission deadline, then extended they decision date, then promised DECISIONS yesterday only to seemingly send out acceptances leaving the rest of us to wonder and assume. Disappointed on many fronts.

For all the hours I put in crafting all those essay responses, I would at least expect a simple email even if it is only a rejection. It has really turned me off and I scratched it off my application list…its not a reasonable way to treat potential students who are interested in your school. No thanks.

@ nhdmaniac Do you know which State’s acceptances have been delayed?

Just a quick word of hope right here.
I just called Swarthmore admission and they said that not all e-mails were sent out yesterday due to technical problems. They said all the e-mails should be sent out by the end of today.
Let’s have hope everyone!

This whole process has been amazingly painful…I can’t imagine what we’re in for when college app decisions roll around…

For college apps I’m pretty sure they tell us the date and time and they send the decisions almost at that exact time unless the system goes down. Atleast that’s what I’ve seen on cc. Hopefully this is the worst of it.

Does anyone know if swathmore is sending both acceptance letters AND rejection letters? I already know email are being delayed and continued to be sent out today but I just wanted to know if they also will send rejection letters?

They’ll send out rejection emails as well as acceptance emails.

Yes, they definitely send out rejection letters seeing as I got one… but I’m pretty happy about the fee waiver! The email was very nice too, for people who are upset about getting rejected, let me tell you Harvey Mudd’s similar fly-in program was much less considerate to the people they rejected

Thanks for sharing this info, so at least we know that if there isn’t an email one way or another, something might be screwy (versus wondering if silence = no).

Best of luck in applying in the fall.

My son received the rejection email about 30 minutes ago.Too bad since he was looking forward to this event. However, all is not lost since he was accepted to the Amherst DIVOH which takes place in a few weeks.

Congrats to all those who were selected !

For those of you who were not selected there are a number of great schools whose diversity programs are still available.Middlebury,Bates,Bowdoin,Colby,Pomona Pitzer,Occidental,Trinity and more !

Here is a link that will help you find which programs are still available to apply for :

Good luck to everyone in their search !

I agree! The rejection was so nicely put.

The rejection was very nice! They also gave fee waivers! That’s always a plus

Lol. I just realized I was accepted but it was in my junk mail so I’m just noticing it! I’m excited to meet everyone and I know that even those that weren’t accepted are very qualified!

And to the rejected: one of my best friends here at Swat was rejected from DiscoSwat but accepted RD! So apply!

Really sorry for the off-topic issue.
