Doesn’t the Common App send it online to all the schools that use it? You should be able to apply to them, unless you did it all paper-based.
I believe many of the schools do accept the school stuff like transcripts and such a bit late, so doesn’t hurt to try!

@owlehn: As long as you submit your app by the deadline you should be fine. Since Brown is on the Common App, the recs should also get there on time. If you order test scores right now, they should make it in time too. Good luck!

^
Okay, thanks for the encouragement! Haha.

Is it weird I keep checking the admitted students page to make sure I didn’t read the letter wrong/logged into the wrong account? Are any other “accepted” students doing this?

To everyone who got rejected/deferred, the admissions process for the Ivies is like a coin once you get to those top 10% applicants (I think Silverturtle is an example of this). Tails might’ve beat you this time, but heads will be your friend in a few months. The point is that if you were qualified enough for Yale, you will definitely get into another top-school as long as you send enough applications. Don’t limit yourself to one school.

This might be easier to accept if I weren’t so in love with Yale. As much as I would like to get into Harvard or somewhere, they’re not the same; one school is going to be a better fit than the others. I still have a chance for April, but I just can’t deal with the “you’ll get in somewhere amazing anyway” thing. Maybe amazing, but not my dream school.

p.s. i know you’re trying to be encouraging and nice; i’m just kinda sad and angry right now. i’m just venting all my frustration after hearing this a billion times.

Accepted!!!

Went on a 2 hour run after seeing my deferral… REALLY wish I would have checked CC first though and seen alllllllll of the deferrals. I think the worst was having to email my counselor and tell her

I finished all my applications (12 schools total) back in October, so it’s kind like, “Well, what do I do now…?” Glad for the deferred company though :)

Deferred.

This will probably be my last post in the Yale forum as I will be pretty indifferent to their decision in March, but congratulations to all those who got in.

Congratulations to all those accepted. Congratulations to all who applied, whether rejected or deferred. Remember, you are among the top students in the country and your hard work will pay off for a wonderful college experience, full of opportunity. Best of luck.

Just remember, deferred =/= rejected…

Yeah, not so much in terms of results at Yale, but for what it signals for other schools. My friend was one of only 2 students outright rejected at her school (huge number deferred), so being the very bottom can’t be a good sign.

Yale is still my #1, so I have some hope that I’ll get accepted come April. I know that the odds are against me though. I don’t know what they could possibly see later on that they didn’t see now. Basically, I better get to loving other schools.

Hey Silverturtle what specific type of Hispanic are you? Are you Mexican or Puerto Rican?

^ Mexican.

@silver

did u mark down “white” and “hispanic” on ur app?

^ Yes, I indicated both.

Silverturtle, it is unbelievable they deferred you. I see many other top scorers/achievers being deferred. Do you think it is for yield protection sake? People like you will certainly be accepted to other great schools, so they are not taking the chance ?

rejected…rowing coach told me she would follow my app through admissions and blah blah blah. thanks for giving me a false sense of hope on my #1 school. for all you deferred people, feel lucky you werent outright rejected! and for the acceptees, congratulations and I hope you realize how great of an opportunity you have

I definitely do not attribute the deferral to yield protection; I’m always hesitant to explain a decision as a product of Tuft’s Syndrome, and this is especially true for Yale, which has almost no incentive to practice that. It was a very strong field of applicants, and being deferred is not Yale’s way of saying that an applicant isn’t wanted at that school. For all I know, something in the teacher/counselor recommendations may have troubled them.
