In looking at the results thread, I have a couple of comments, especially aimed at people applying next year:

 1. When you look at the rejected and waitlisted students, make sure you also check out where they did get in–most of them were accepted to other highly selective schools. Those students didnt fail–in fact, their application strategy worked very well.
 2. Make sure you have a range of schools, and that you apply to enough schools. You are most likely to be disappointed if you apply only to a couple of tough reaches and one safety that you don’t really want to attend.
 3. DON’T MAKE ANY ONE SCHOOL YOUR DREAM SCHOOL.

Another comment, also based on reading the results thread.

That reason you think you were rejected (i.e., bad interview, weak essays, etc.)? That probably wasn’t it, unless it was something blatant, like grades or scores significantly lower than those of people getting accepted. It was probably something more subjective that had to do with class-building. If Harvard, or Yale, or Brown, or Chicago, or Wesleyan accepted you, Yale didn’t reject you because your interview didn’t go all that well. They rejected you because for some reason or other, you didn’t fit into the jigsaw puzzle they thought they were making. It has nothing to do with the quality of your achievements.
