Disney Channel's Attitude Towards Asians

Yeah, of course, minorities don't talk to each other. Ever. Blacks don't talk to asians, and asians don't talk to hispanics. Disney is so silly for trying to bridge racial gaps.

I bet Disney is hiring based soley on race too, heaven forbid they look at the actors' talent.
They're so stupid. If they wanted Brenda Song, they should have made her white first.
They should have made Raven Symone and the entire cast of That's So Raven, white too - and then change her name to Lily and give her bright blonde hair.

Disney should focus more on skin color and less on talent and personality. As should all people. Color is the main thing, everyone knows that.

Why would kids of different races have friends of different races in a fictional tv show? Haha, Disney should really pay attention to those segregation laws we have.

True conspiracy.

No, really.

Disclaimer: The above, was sarcasm.

I meant that in most cases, the black kids hang out with the black kids and white kids hang out with the white kids. Not all the time, but most.

It actually does seem that Disney Channel is biased towards blacks. Gosh, have you even counted how many black shows air on Disney Channel? Sister Sister, Proud Family, That's So Raven, etc. Why should a race that's 12% of the population, make up 40% of the shows?

Why does the race matter at all? Is that all you're focused on? It based on entertainment. It doesn't matter if the actors are black, white, green or purple, as long as someone finds it entertaing. That is the point of television.

Not to be racially correct.

The race doesn't matter. Disney Channel tries so hard to make it so racially diverse that they're actually saying race is important and there should be a character that portrays one of America's top ten ethnicities.

It gets annoying.

It's annoying because Disney tries to cater to all children of all ethnicties?

Yes.

It's ridiculous that they think there are that many blacks and hispanics at suburban schools.

But I guess Disney Channel isn't really based upon reality. After all, you've got a psychic, a kid from the future, and a dragon all on one channel.

Yes there are that many blacks and hispanics at suburban schools. I live in Prince George's County, the most wealthy black and asian suburb in the entire nation. Every single school I've gone to was equal in minority ratio to whites.

Just because the little tv shows you assume to be reality say that all blacks and hispanics run up and down the city in caged schools full of drugs and thugs - does not make it true.

But even if it were true, would you rather have Disney make a show about hispanic gangs attending overcrowded schools in LA and shooting each other down? That is the stereotype, they should go with it, to appease the ignorant.

Or better yet, Disney should forget the minorities, and do what every other station does and cater to the generic population. **** the minority, right?

Prince George's County is the wealhiest black and asian suburb? Wow. That's hard to believe as the average income is $38,000 for males. There's suburbs out in California where it's 25% Asian and the median income is $100,000 +.

Are you sure you consider your county as Asian since it's only 3% Asian?

I'm glad disney has a lot of shows with blacks and asians and theres no excuse anyone here can give justifying why having them is "bad".

as for the chinese thing, i don't see anything offensive about what disney does with them.

At the turn of the 21st century, Prince George's County had become the wealthiest majority African American county in the United States

"Males had a median income of $38,904 versus $35,718 for females."

That's he household income that you were talking about, my friend.

If you would've read the little article I posted, maybe you would've known what I was talking about.

Prince George’s County is recognized as one of the wealthiest African American suburbs in the nation and more than 50 percent of the businesses in Prince George’s are minority-owned

If you're going to contest something, do a better job.

hmmmm lets see.
a GOVERNMENT website said that prince georges is the most wealthy black county, and wikipedia, your source that can be edited by ANYONE, says....? what again?

Prince George's County, meanwhile, is the wealthiest county in the nation with an African-American majority, said Kwasi Holman, president and CEO of Prince George's County Economic Development Corp. <a href="http://www.newsline.umd.edu/business/specialreports/census/blackbusiness041806.htm%5B/url%5D%5B/quote%5D">http://www.newsline.umd.edu/business/specialreports/census/blackbusiness041806.htm

Some say the 245-acre town center project may have the size and scope to finally attract upscale retail to the wealthiest predominantly African-American county.<a href="http://washington.bizjournals.com/washington/stories/2005/09/12/story1.html%5B/url%5D%5B/quote%5D">http://washington.bizjournals.com/washington/stories/2005/09/12/story1.html

and another

Whatever.

This thread is about minorities being portrayed on disney channel, not the average income of a black city in maryland.

Why would I care what the average income of a city with an African American majority? I thought we were talking about diversities, not cities where most of the people are black. That's not diversity.

yeah, change the topic cause you've been proven wrong
newsflash, kid: you're the one who started the argument on the wealth of prince george's county. don't start what you can't finish. it makes you look like a wimp.

Funny how you detour the discussion after you were shown to be incorrect.
You are the one who brought up the validity of my statement afterall, aren't you? It seems hypocritical of you to turn around and say you don't care and it doesn't matter, when you're the one who started all of this.
