Hi,
I am currently taking a online course where I wrote an essay that violated the academic honesty policy. My professor gave me an f for the assignment and submitted a violation for to the college I am attending. I am waiting for the school to contact me or email me about the next steps or if I will be on academic probation. I am worried about how this will affect my financial aid, current courses, and if cal state or any university will accept me transfer application for the upcoming fall semester. Any advice?
Most community colleges have an academic dishonesty reporting system that is designed to identify repeat offenders. If this was a one-time offense for you, then I suspect that the consequences will be limited your grade in that online course. You could be a little more pro-active and contact your online instructor and or the Dean to apologize, let them know that this will never happen again, and determine the extent of the consequences. Again, if this is a first offense, I doubt that your financial aid or transfer status will be affected. If this is not your first offense, then all bets are off.
