Hey Guys! As some of you may know, I used the book, Dissecting the ACT: A Unique Student Perspective on the ACT, to help me get from a 30-34. However, being the academically neurotic person that I am, I decided that I wanted to get a 35 or higher. :P Luckily, the same authors of Dissecting the ACT recently published a "2.0" which analyzes a new practice test and contains improved strategies.Though I thought that this book wouldn't help me raise my score any more, I bought it on a whim because I wanted more expert prep materials and advice. After going through the second book and taking the test in October, I was able to get perfects in the reading and the science and bring my score up to a 35! (With Math 34 English 34). I am posting because I truly believe that this book is the real deal. If you haven't checked it out, here's the link

Dissecting the ACT 2.0 has the best strategies that I have seen. Unlike some of the posters that have never really used the book, I am looking at the book as I write this post. In the math section I count 11 specific strategies that are the best that I have seen. Those who say the book does not have strategies do not know what they are talking about. The book is no scam. It only costs $10 and is the second best selling ACT book on Amazon just behind the red book. Do not take my word for this; check the sales rank on Amazon.com. The book was also featured as the cover story on WNG news on Dec 21, 2009-search Dissecting the ACT on You Tube to see the video clip.

The people who do what the book recommends will find it very useful. Those who make negative comments about the book probably never actually did what the book recommends or have never seen the book. Go to Amazon.com and preview the inside of the book and read the authors blog and then decide for your self weather the books is worth $10.

i got this book but it isn’t too swell. The English is decent, but the rest is just repetitive of other prep books. It does tell you how to get more practice but that’s really if you haven’t found any other ways of obtaining ACT tests (underground sources, etc.) lol

I’m not sure if it had influence, but I got a 30 in my ACT after reading the first ‘Dissecting the ACT’ book and skimming the red book. It was a jump from 26.

I admit I didn’t even study that much, I only read a bit of the math section of the red book. But the Dissecting was so short that it was no problem to digest it. I wonder if I could have gotten a higher score if they had published 2.0 earlier =P

Anyways, what I like about it is that it’s so short that you can keep it as a small manual of strategies to remember. For those with the knowledge but need the strategies, this book is quite good, in my experience.

Just used this book for the February ACT, along with the red book, and was able to score a 35!!! the red book was extremely useful for real tests, and dissecting the act 2.0 was great for strategies. Its really great for telling you how to speed up your test taking while still remaining accurate. I cant say whether it was the one thing that helped me bring up my score, but it certainly played a part in it. Highly recommended! Ch-Ch-Check it out!

P.S. I took the test once before and scored a 31.
