Distance formula manipulation

I forgot that equation that helps one find the solution of 2 speeds.

It goes something like this 2(speed1speed2)/speed1+speed2

A problem would go like this

going to store, 10mph and returned 20 mph, total time was 1 hour. how far away is it?

any help? I just forgot it and it angers me that I did so

200/30=20/3=6.33 miles
Multiplying by 2 finds the average speed.

Well, you have it!

"Going to store, 10mph and returned 20 mph, total time was 1 hour. how far away is it? "

Average Speed = 21020 / 10+20 or 400/30 or 40/3

Total Distance = Average speed by total time = 40/3 x 1 = 40/3 miles.

One way distance? 40/6 or 20/3. Leave in fractional form in a grid-in.

Remember to take only one half of total distance when the question asks for the one way. It is important to READ the question carefully and NOT jump onto the formula without reasoning.
