hi,
How far is it to walk to dining halls from McGregor?

Which dining hall?

It's about a 2-3 minute walk to Next House, a 3-4 minute walk to Baker, and probably a 5 minute walk to Simmons.

Dining halls are a waste of money. The food's pretty good (really good once you figure out which dining hall people's cooking you like), but It's $300 to be part of the dining plan (half off all meals), and even then it they still are overpriced. If you're in McGregor, there's a convenience store in the basement, a trader Joe's about a ten minute walk away, a couple different grocery stores that you can get to pretty easily, and a kitchen in your suite. If want prepared food, the student center is about an 8 minute walk away, and has just as good food at WAY more reasonable (there's a pizzaria, a mini grocery store/sandwich shop, a dunkin' donuts, a subway, and a bunch of ethnic places)

thx, but what is the student center?

The student center is the main student epicenter on campus -- it has places to eat, places to study, and places to lounge. Most students end up spending a decent amount of time there, since it's in the middle of campus and has good food options like a grocery store and a Dunkin Donuts.

(And, thekidhere, am I just a fast walker? I can get from MacGregor to the student center in five minutes with no problems. :))

nah, i'm just terrible at estimating lengths of time ;)

There is now a Subway in the food court in the Student Center as of June 11, and that's something I plan on hitting up when the dining halls are closed (weekends) and I'm too lazy to prepare food.

^ OMG SUBWAY YES my life is good now.

Haha, there's a Quizno's and two Au Bon Pains in close proximity to campus, too, and both also take TechCash. :)

there's am Au Bon Pains in the z-center too.
