Hi I was admitted to Bentley not too long ago and I was wondering how diverse the campus is? I looked up the statistics online but would rather hear from the students that currently attend. Have you met people from all over the U.S.? Are there a lot of international students? I’m just looking forward to meeting all kinds of people
Bentley is fairly diverse but there is much defacto segregation and you’ll see cliques filling the dining hall. You’ll hear 3 or 4 languages as you walk to class. The campus is filled with upper-middle-class New England students but is very welcoming to diversity, especially LGBT. I enjoyed meeting international students from across the world, and students from around the country as well.
Bentley is a very expensive school and the majority of kids there are from upper-middle class to rich families. Quite typical actually of many private NE schools. They try to attract kids from all over the US but the vast majority are still from NE. It would not be as diverse as a large school just because of the numbers.
Bentley has a great business program and career placement, but I’m actually transferring out of Bentley because of how little diversity there is. Some students may find it hard to make friends, study, be themselves, and build their interests on campus here when the majority of the students are blockheads, frat boys and sorority girls, and white students from small towns.
There is also not much variety in terms of student activities and students of color generally clump together. The school is small and it has a nice campus feel, but you may feel limited after a while. However, the school has recently made great strides to boost diversity, but personally I’d rather attend another school that is already doing well.
@lpkillz123 Your experience is very typical at Bentley. It is not a very diverse school despite what the stats might indicate. Where are you looking to transfer our to? If you can afford Bentley now, then you have your pick of anyplace.
