diversity requirement

Of the Gen Ed's the only one my D won't have with her AP credit, is the diversity requirement. How do you find a listing of what classes will qualify for that requirement. Or, do we have to check every class and see if it works? There's got to be an easier way than that. Oh ... we do know some of the classes (from looking at the honors selection of courses available to choose from in the fall), but we're hoping to find a bigger list.

Thanks!!

Here’s a list of the fall diversity courses: [Office of the University Registrar](http://www.registrar.ufl.edu/soc/200908/gened.html#d)

Theater appreciation and cultural antro are good classes to take. Many take human sexuality however.

Yeah, she saw the human sexuality course. LOL. I told her how that was “the course” when I was an undergrad where everyone on campus knew the film schedule. Standing room only on certain days. She just roled her eyes and went, “yeah, right … not for me.” Sadly, this is going to be a difficult gen ed for D; she’s such a math/science geek … nothing here jumps out at here. We’ll read further.

Thanks for your help. That’s exactly what we’d been looking for!

Son took the sexuality, there was no movies. He thought the class was ok, he is a hard sciences major. Got an A, no complaining.

Most people I know took human sexuality and said it was pretty interesting. I didn’t take it because it requires a bit of writing (6000 words, I think), which is good if you haven’t met the 24,000 word requirement yet, but I had enough words and didn’t feel like doing the extra writing.

I ended up taking marriage and family, with Gerlach. It was the easiest class I’ve taken at UF, and she basically just hands you an A for showing up and doing some busy work. She doesn’t require any writing, although I think some other teachers do. I would definitely recommend that class if you need a diversity credit but don’t need any more writing classes.

was cultural anthro difficult?

I’ve heard Marriage and Family is incredibly boring and moderately useless and [though I’ve not taken it] I’m kind of ashamed that it’s most people’s only exposure to Sociology.

She could always put it off and take it a little later to give herself a break in a really tough math/science schedule.

^^^^
That’s the weird part – at least to my very right brain self – she doesn’t find an entire schedule of math/physics/chemistry difficult at all. That’s a walk in the park for her … it’s the more “touchy feely let’s write about what you think about this” kind of class she stresses over.
