I was recently accepted to College of Charleston, and am seriously considering attenting this fall. However, I am extremley concerned about the diversity factor. I know its predominantly white, which is not an issue, but as a gay male, im extremley concerned about fitting in. I know its in the South and everything, but I heard the school overall is very liberal and accepting. Is this true? Any input is appreciated!

I noticed on the CofC website under Student Life and then Clubs and Organization, that there was a Gay Straight Alliance. I suggest you e mail the person listed there and ask him/her. I’s be anxious to hear what you learn

College of Charleston has a very high percentage of females. Here in South Carolina it seems that females are far more accepting of homosexuals than males. I don’t really know why that is.

CofC is a very accepting school. There are a few gay clubs right around the corner, and there is no need to fear not being accepted. Now if you were to go upstate more, there is not a lot of acceptance.
