Division 3 athletics

This might be a dumb question, but I cannot find the answer anywhere. What costs are of the responsibility of the athlete when you play a division 3 sport? Who pays for uniforms, travel, etc.?

My brother swims for a D3 team. As far as I know, he does not pay to be a member of the team (unlike club swim teams) and he does not pay for travel to and from meets. He may have to pay for his team swimsuit, but I’m unsure. He also does have to pay for the annual team training trip which is a few hundred dollars.

The school provides uniforms…not sure about swimming as you would not share those.
They transport you to games and you are fed as well. We would have a game and would stop by a Ponderosa (back in the day) for dinner.
I think only personal use items, like footwear, would you might have to pay for and even that I am not sure.

The school/team pays for it all. You might have to provide personal items (shoes, etc.) but that is all. If you live on-campus and have to arrive before school starts for training (for fall sports) you might have to pay extra for housing and food until the regular term starts. You might try posting this on the “Athletic Recruits” forum for more responses:
