Is there such a thing? And if so, how is the position decided?

Are there any other honors at graduation? If so, what are the requirements of achieving them?

Thanks!

yes there is...and it is decided on by raw gpa. typically the val (or co-val) has a 3.98-4.0. There is also a sal. Other honors are summa cum laude (3.86 usually) magna cum laude (3.74) and cum laude (3.56)--but these numbers vary from year to year. are you going to dartmouth? if so, why are you asking about being valedictorian?? the odds are definitely against you buddy.

definitely...

did you see the christian guy who gave that speech? it was on some news web sites. i think it was noah something and he was homeschooled before college.

odds are against everyone, doesn't hurt to know what it takes

^^
That's the attitude. Even though chances are higher you'll fail out. ;)

Ok, then I can tell you straight out, you need straight A's, a 4.0. And the christian guy who gave the speech was noah riner, the student body president, not the val.

Wow, those are unbelievable high thresholds. When I was going to school and I had the impression Dartmouth was the same at the time and even after, summa cum laude was 3.8, magna cum laude was 3.5 and cum laude was 3.3.

dear blitz

no more talk of gpa at dartmouth...it is time to be less competitive and stop thinking of the future ..time to smell the roses at the big green..
and one more thing NEVER ask about someones SAT once your at dartmouth
something bad happens ..(ask a student poster what happens)

good one, isaac.

Students concerned about honors really ought consider a certain honors-inflated college in a town near Boston (~65% honors) or that other grade-inflated college on a Farm just south of San Francisco. LOL
