Do admission office staffs take break during Thanksgivings?

I wonder if admission staffs work during Thanksgivings, since they have over 4800 EA applications to read.

I think it's extremely likely that (1) the office is closed and (2) everybody brought home a huge stack of files.

Oh man, I feel sorry for their families. "Pass the turkey and do you think this is a great student or what?"

Hmmm, makes you wonder if you want your file read before the meal or after.

Some admissions offices scan everything. Dunno if that's standard procedure at Y. It allows readers to just have their laptops rather than stacks of files.

yep, they scan everything at Yale. At least that's what my regional representative told me.

but laptops at the thanksgiving dinner table?
lol sorry i didnt see that i spilled the gravy on you aunt jemima, i was too busy noticing that dietcoke14's essay is like crap!

Ugh this fringey character made me lose my appetite...

:-( bum bum

"Hmmm, makes you wonder if you want your file read before the meal or after."

Hahaha. I think I'd prefer after - I don't know about everyone else, but before Thanksgiving dinner I'm always antsy and impatient. I wouldn't want an officer taking that out onto my application.

This deviates from the original thread, but I was just wondering: do you guys think admissions officers ever look at CC just out of curiosity? Or are they so sick of their jobs that the very idea makes them want to puke?

Yale does look cc

I know some other schools look like MIT, UC Davis, and I believe Yale does too. I remember reading it in the Yale Daily News.

They can't tell who we are though, right?

Yes that is why it takes so long to make decisions. As they look through all of their cases they can immediately match you with your file, "Look, James, it's that fringey323 character. Better start reading all 166 posts."

Just kidding.

and check face book, my space and cell phone text messaging transcription :) Happy Thanksgiving

I must really need a break... thought you were dead serious.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I did a Google search and found the link, if anyone is interested:

Yale Daily News - Blogs elucidate admit process

I sure hope they do take a break - for their sake!

they do scan everything. when I called to check if some addtional supplementary documents (not sch recs or teacher recs) have arrived, the woman didn't even leave the phone to pull out my file - she was probably sitting in front of a computer that could pull out every document in my file electronically. and she could verify what it looked like when i described it to her.
