Do any of you want to become a professional engineer?

I don't... but I think its a great stepping stone for so many post graduate degrees/paths.

Yes, I want P.E. after my name so I can kick some ass. Depending on how things go with my life, I can either 1. Remain in industry or 2. Do a PhD and go into academia. I will let my life take a natural course to either destination. However, I want my damn stamp.

no i just want to undergrad in it (as of now). its an extremely solid degree that closes no doors on what you want to do in graduate school. who knows i may be a professional engineer or i may do law or medicine. either way engineering makes a critical thinker.

agreed....

I'm with needhelp on this one. Although I think I'll wind up as an engineer, I just feel that it is a solid undergrad.

i'm going to stay in school one extra year to do a master's degree in engineering and then work a few years and then apply to medical school.

I want to go to law school. I would like to go immediately after I get my undergrad degree in MechE just to get it out of the way. But I think I may need more time to research all of my options. I'm just afraid that if I don't go to law school immediately my chances of being able to go in the future will not be great. I would have to give up a lot in order to devote three more years of my life to full-time school (going part-time doesn't appeal to me at all).

I want to be a professional engineer, and hopefully work for the government. :)

i want to be a pirate (arghh!)...but since its a competitive market i decided to study engineering instead

yea. i dominate all pirates. you have no chance.

I would very much like to be an Electrical Engineer or Biomedical Engineer. The stuff fascinates me, and I doubt that the job would ever be very boring.

I just want to work and not do any calculations associated with engineering.

i have the same sentiments usna haha.

Yes yes. Why would i applay for engineering if i dont wont to be one?

i was going to apply to engineering even though i know i didnt want to become an engineer

then i realised that a physics major would be a much smarter choice

this is what i think:

a lot of people apply to engineering because they know that engineering majors are typically paid well with starting salaries. the smart kids applied to engineering because it is typically the hardest major to get into in most schools. and they also know that its hard to graduate and maintain a good gpa, they also typically dominated their high school math and science classes , so they like this challenge and think that they will be rewarded at the end and graduate with a 4.0 gpa.

probably not, being a grunt at some huge corporation that will steal my ideas doesn't sound appealing b/c i'm only planning a B.S. in BME, i'm prob gonna take it to med school, maybe even law school if things go crazy. but yeah, that's my 2 cents haha

I'll be designing your CPUs in four years... lol

Im doing engineering becuase I want to start up a company.
