do AP classes help you with college courses

are they the same pace or work level? or is this a scam

I'm not in college but I've heard that APs may help you when you actually take the class in college. But they are certainly not on the same level mainly due to the teaching style being tailored for HS students. And, they're probably much slower than college because for a college class, it's one-two semesters when an AP is the WHOLE year. So they're technically going slower. I think the only comparative thing would be the textbook/materials used.

is this especially true for the AP sciences, or AP calc?

i heard ap calc and the ap sciences in high schools cant even compare to college level

It probably depends upon the particular AP course and the particular college and university attended. AP courses which are primarily memorization and regurgatation will only help at a less selective school, typically. AP courses which require analysis will be more akin to a good college course.

It still educates you with information that you would NOT learn in a regular, non-Honors class, such as Chemistry/Physics. It IS a scam formulated by the College Board, who else. Without any APs, it's difficult to get into the top university that you want to go to.

i have no shortage of aps (8 throughout high school), but i'm mainly wondering mainly about the sciences and math (im going into engineering)

They told me that APs were a predictor of your subject performance in college....5=A, 4=B, 3=C....well...I did awful on most of my APs....but got A's in all the classes in college...
