do AP classes REALLY affect your college chance?

APPLYING TO CORNELL HUMAN ECOLOGY DESIGN PROGRAM:

will it look better if I took AP US History or AP Human Geography? am interested in both but my schedule does not allow it.

AP US History is 6 credits, AP Human Geo is 2 credits. i am also taking AP lang

thx

Take whichever class you are more interested in/can fit in – since you are still taking an AP class, I can’t imagine it would be a big deal that you took one over the other. FWIW, I’ve heard that APUSH is one of the most rigorous APs, but that shouldn’t be your deciding factor. Adcoms are more interested in seeing that you’ve adequately challenged yourself within your school’s offerings than that you’ve taken 15 APs!

ok thank you!

To respond to the comment, I got a 5 on APUSH, it really isn’t that difficult. The sciences are the hardest AP tests, not the history or english

shameless bump

It won’t make a difference which one you take (or negligible).

I would disagree that US History is “not that difficult” but I suppose it depends on what you are interested in and how your mind works. People who have no difficulty retaining a lot of specific information and writing essays in a limited amount of time will have no issues (I had problems with the former, but zero with the latter - probably why I got 5s on AP Lang & Lit but only got a 3 on APUSH). Personally, I thought the AP Calculus AB exam was easier than the AP US History exam.

Anyway, I agree with the others that you should take whatever’s most interesting to you.
